Multi-Engine Time Building in the P2006T: Who It Fits

Multi-Engine Time Building in the P2006T: Who It Fits

Published by: Jordan Morris

You passed your multi-engine checkride, and now the airplane you trained in is parked while you wonder how to keep the skills sharp. The hours after the rating are where multi-engine confidence is built, and how you spend them shapes the pilot you become. At Speedway Flight Training, our Tecnam P2006T is available in bulk time packages for exactly that stage.

This guide explains who P2006T time building fits, what each package includes, and how to plan your hours so they do more than fill a logbook. If you have not yet earned your rating, start with our Multi-Engine Add-On and come back with a plan.

Meet the airplane you will be flying

Our multi-engine airplane is N605VA, a 2023 Tecnam P2006T MKII. It seats four, runs on twin Rotax 912 series engines, and carries a Garmin G950 avionics suite. It is IFR capable, which matters when you want to practice instrument procedures in a twin during your hours instead of only on the checkride.

Flying a modern twin regularly builds the habits that matter: managing two engines, staying ahead of the airplane, and briefing engine-out procedures until they are automatic. Our full fleet overview includes the P2006T alongside our Cessna 172 trainers.

Who P2006T time building fits best

Our packages are built for pilots who are already qualified in a twin and want more time in one. That commonly includes:

  • Pilots who just finished a Multi-Engine Add-On and want to log more time while the training is fresh
  • Instructors working toward or finishing MEI training who need consistent multi-engine hours
  • Airline-track pilots building multi-engine experience toward their next certificate or job application
  • Out-of-town pilots who want to fly with us for a focused block
  • Two pilots who want to share package hours and split the cost

Every pilot qualifies individually. You need to complete our Multi-Engine Add-On, complete our MEI program, or pass a P2006T checkout with one of our instructors before you use package time. Compare those paths on our Multi-Engine Instructor program page.

Twin Builder 10 or Twin Builder 25: choosing your package

We offer two bulk wet aircraft time packages. Wet means fuel and oil use are handled in the package structure, though a fuel and oil surcharge can apply after each flight.

PackageBase priceAircraft timePackage term
Twin Builder 10$4,995Up to 10 hours60 days from purchase
Twin Builder 25$11,995Up to 25 hours90 days from purchase

The base price covers P2006T aircraft time only. Checkout, ground and flight instruction, and proficiency training are separate, as are housing, non-owned aircraft insurance, and away-from-base fees. Each pilot needs proof of insurance with at least $75,000 in hull coverage and $250,000 in liability coverage before dispatch.

Some of these costs can be added as optional allowances in a financed total, subject to approval. If you want to plan the full picture, our financing page is the place to begin, and our team can walk you through the numbers on the P2006T time building page.

How to make every hour teach you something

Logging time is easy. Learning from the time takes a plan. Before you fly, decide what each block should improve, then debrief afterward. Some ideas for your hours:

  • Fly engine-out procedures until the flow is calm. Brief them before every takeoff, not just on training days.
  • Plan cross-country flights with real weather. Practice fuel planning and alternate selection in a twin.
  • Add instrument practice to keep approaches and holds sharp in the P2006T.
  • Practice night and different airport environments when your qualifications and currency allow.
  • Record what you learned. A short note after each flight builds a personal checklist you can use for years.

Log your time according to FAA logging rules, and remember that our instructors can help you understand how instruction time and pilot-in-command time are recorded. Pilots preparing to teach can pair time building with our MEI package, which trains you to instruct in the P2006T.

Where multi-engine hours fit in a pilot career

Many career-track pilots build experience through instructing, and multi-engine time is one part of a larger picture. Airline eligibility and airline hiring are separate milestones, and employer requirements vary, so treat time building as a way to grow your skills and experience rather than a guaranteed path to a job.

What it can do is help you arrive at interviews and simulator evaluations more comfortable with twin-engine operations. To see how these steps connect, read our guides on the professional pilot career path and moving from private pilot to CFI.

FAQ: P2006T Time Building Questions

Do the packages include instruction or checkout?

No. The base price covers aircraft time only. Checkout and instruction are billed separately at $75 per hour, and an allowance can be part of a financed total when approved. See the Multi-Engine Add-On if you need training first.

Can two pilots share package time?

Yes. Each pilot must meet our eligibility, checkout, documentation, insurance, and dispatch requirements independently.

Where do I fly?

Atlanta Speedway Airport (KHMP) in Hampton, Georgia. Landing, overnight, and repositioning fees can apply away from KHMP. See our location details for directions.

Is housing available?

Housing is optional and subject to availability. It can be included as a financed allowance up to $2,000 per month when approved.

How is the fuel and oil surcharge paid?

The surcharge is calculated after each flight and drawn from available allowance funds or charged to the card on file.

Can I finance time building?

Some costs can be part of an approved financed total. Visit our financing page to start the conversation.
